To provide maximum performance (high speed, low latency) and resilience, Sharedband have deployed 4 datacenters across the continental US to deliver the service.
Each datacenter has been built with reliability, security and performance in mind:
- Dual, diverse, battery backed-up power supplies to every cabinet (except for Seattle)
- Dual Cisco 65xx chassis with dual power supplies, inter-connected using fiber
- Dual single or multi-mode fiber connections to multiple network carriers (see below)
- Redundant, high availability HP servers connected independently to each Cisco switch
- Biometric, swipe card and combination lock access
- BGP failover between certain datacenters to provide site-level resilience
To increase resilience and speed, each site has a minimum of 6 Tier 1 network carriers:
- Seattle - UUnet, Verio, AT&T, Global Crossing, Sprint, Savvis, XO
- Los Angeles - Level 3, UUNet, CW, Sprint, Global Crossing, AT&T, Verio, XO
- Chicago - Sprint, Global Crossing, CW, UUNet, Verio, XO, Level 3
- New York - Sprint, Global Crossing, CW, UUNet, Verio, XO
Sharedband are continually expanding the number of datacenters in the US and other countries. We are members of ARIN and RIPE, and have fiber peerings at the Seattle Internet Exchange (SIX).
